Clark Wang Emerging Artist Faculty Recital, featuring The Pandan Quartet
June 1 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Pandan Quartet, based at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music since 2023, are the recipients of Flint Initiative, Shansi, and Obirin
Gakuen Foundation Grants. In January 2026, they undertook a performance tour across East Asia, with concerts in Nagoya, Tokyo, Seoul, Xiamen, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur. During this tour, Pandan performed with local students and premiered commissioned pieces by student composers from under-represented communities. This tour marked Pandan’s second visit to Asia, having previously toured Singapore and participated in the Singapore Chamber Music Festival in January 2024, performing to critical acclaim for local audiences and in international embassies.
In 2024, Pandan were the Artists in Residence for the Off The Hook Arts: Music Spoke Concert Series in Ft. Collins, Colorado under the
mentorship of the Dalí Quartet. In Winter 2025, Pandan completed a month-long artist residency at the Banff Center for Arts and Creativity in Canada, where they were mentored by the Kronos Quartet. Later in 2025, Pandan participated in the Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society’s Masterclass Series, were semifinalists at the 2025 Coltman Competition in Austin (TX), and took part in the Kinhaven Young Artists Seminar in Vermont. Most recently, Pandan was featured on New York City’s WQXR Public Radio as part
of their Young Artist Showcase program.
Other Pandan projects include using music to get involved in the local community through performances in art museums, schools, churches, and senior care facilities. They are grateful to be mentored by Kirsten Docter, Sibbi Bernhardsson, and the Verona Quartet.
